June is shaping up to be quite a month. On the 6th, the Relix 30th Anniversary Party will take place at New York's Central Park. If you're anywhere nearby you should check it out- Gov't Mule and Robert Randolph & The Family Band are scheduled to perform with an additional guest or two, I would imagine. The following weekend we'll be at Bonnaroo. If you're be with us in Manchester be sure to stop by the Relix tent to pick up your copy of the Bonnaroo Beacon, the daily paper that we will be issuing in conjunction with Relix on Thursday through Sunday. We'll also have coverage of both events here at the site. As for the current issue, we're presenting the opening segment of a two part interview with Dave Schools. When I think back to Bonnaroo I will always summon strong emotions regarding the two nights of Widespread Panic which were also my final opportunities to see Mike Houser perform with the group. Dave talks a bit about Mikey (although much of that appears later in the interview which we're holding off until next month) but he also discusses his own musical development and offers a bit on the other projects he has in queue (as well as some of his summer reading list). There's plenty more too including Mick Skidmore's interview with Cracker principal David Lowery on the group's O Cracker collaboration with Leftover Salmon. Andy Tennille offers the first installment of what will be regular series in which he goes hunting for records with various artists. Plus we have Jeff Waful's article on Percy Hill and Assembly of Dust bass player John Lecesse, a photo gallery from Jay Blakesberg, a response to the Jim Wrantz essay from last month and more. Indeed, there's quality entertainment all around- including out regular columns, departments, CD Reviews and Charts. So be sure to poke around and we'll see you at the shows... later days and peace,
