Greetings all,

I hope your summers have been satisfying thus far. There's been plenty of fine music out there, frankly some would say too much as the proliferation of festivals has in many instances spread out the audiences rather thin. Still there's more on the horizon both with band tours and fests so head on out and support what you dig.

To that end we'll be up in Limestone, Maine the week of August 2 working on another of our festive festival dailies (following up this year's Bonnaroo Beacon). We have some pretty cool contributions on the way and plenty more planned so if you're there stop by the Relix tent and pick up a copy.

Before I talk about the current issue I just discovered that last month's comments disappeared into the ether so I want to take a moment or to reflect a bit on the loss of Ricky Keller. Personally, I always found him to be an engaging, entertaining voice. Of course he meant quite a bit more to those in the realm of Zambi. He will be deeply missed, and please take the opportunity to support his wife and daughter in the months and years ahead. Last month we presented Jimmy Herring's reflections as well as an unpublished interview by Andy Tennille with Ricky and Jeff Sipe from the last Project Z tour.

As for content this month we have a nice varied collections of articles. Mr Jefferson Waful our esteemed daily news editor chips in two, a feature on Derek Trucks and his new release as well as "The Sound of One Hand Drumming: Breaking News from ekoostik hookah's Eric Lanese." There are also interesting pieces on the Live Phish downloads, Adrian Belew, and Tim Walther but poke around, there's plenty more to see, along with CD Reviews, Columns, Departments and Charts.

That's all for now, see you out there...

later days and peace,
Dean
