With the winds of Hurricane Isabel finally past, Fall welcomes a new group of Home Grown Music Network Bands! This signing period was the most hectic ever, and after all the dust cleared we had constructed a great lineup of new bands! You can learn more about these bands, their music, tours, and products at http://www.homegrownmusic.net! The Bridge – The Bridge is one of Baltimore's premiere up and coming bands. Fusing Bluegrass, Funk, Jazz, Rock and Electronica over a solid foundation of Folk and Blues, this quintet has quickly gained a diverse and devoted following. This ensemble, comprised of guitar, bass, mandolin, human beat-box, saxophone and drums, uses their unique instrumentation and broad range of musical tastes to bridge the gap between tradition and innovation....an old school blend with new school flavor. The Bridge performs frequently in MD, VA, NJ, PA, and beyond. Caveman – Leaving no musical stone unturned, Caveman designs music that you just cannot ignore! Since forming in NYC in the summer of 2001, Caveman has been touring the East Coast and Canada, frightening crowds with a range of musical styles from jazz, rock, & blues, to tribal music of Africa, India, Ireland, Brazil, and the Middle East. Caveman tells the story of the evolution of music carrying influences of Coltrane, Hendrix, and the Grateful Dead. Their debut album is a journey through time and sound! Outer space meets the Neanderthal when Caveman and Spacestation Integration perform together on Halloween in Carrboro, NC! Moonshine Still – Moonshine Still's music can be summed up in one word – Frankenrock: A blend of music created from a variety of origins, bound together on the operating table of studio and stage, and given life by a bolt of electricity. Formed in 1996 in Macon, GA, Moonshine Still is a nationally touring 6-piece band that has garnered a large grassroots following with their unparalleled live performances. Propelled by the band's seamless jams with stunning guitar and keyboard solos, a soulful vocal rises with the spirit of Georgia churches. This band has a flowing groove that is all about motion, transition, and the journey. They just released their debut album, the live "Moon Over Georgia". The New Deal – If you don't know about this Canadian trio yet, what's the deal? Building new sounds around their bass-heavy foundation of instrumental hypnosis, The New Deal creates dance-minded music with a decidedly human touch. Innovative yet primal, this is synapse-popping sound that thrives in the concert setting, and they travel the world performing for hungry audiences! Their new album is due soon and should be a slight departure for the band, as vocals are added to the mix. Rainbow Trout - Rainbow Trout calls New York home, and in true urban fashion they combine diverse elements and influences. Trout's music has a varied mix of jazz, rock, blues, and "hard beat" funk. The sound also draws from the tradition of singer-songwriters, with an emphasis on lyrical content. Since December 2002 they have been touring the nation in support of their well-received, self-titled record. The band has also provided their services to Meters guitar giant Leo Nocentelli, and they currently play with renowned keyboard ace Jason Crosby. In concert, these guys are swimming with fun! Reeltime Travelers – Reeltime Travelers create a unique blend of old-time Americana music rooted in the pre-record era string bands of Southern Appalachia. The band draws from that deep tradition to create new songs and sounds. Their shows are high-energy mixes of traditional, fiddle-driven dance tunes, mountain harmonies, original banjo and fiddle tunes, and new songs with ties to the Old-Time tradition. From the Grand Ole Opry to Jamband festivals, the Reeltime Travelers demonstrate reverence for Tradition and produce their own "Reeltime" Americana music. Get ready to roll-back-the-rug-and-dance-all-night! Spacestation Integration – North Carolina-based Spacestation Integration fuses bluegrass, jazz, rock, funk, drum ‘n' bass and Celtic styles into a sound that defies categorization. You could call it ‘post modern jazz', ‘bluegracid' or ‘banjo fusion', but these won't begin to describe SSI's sound. Spacestation Integration is like no other band out there. The group consists of banjo, bass, percussion and drum set. Four musically diverse minds join forces to create one truly original sound. SSI's CD "Live From Nowhere" will appeal to fans of bluegrass, jazz and jam and will hook you on SSI's futuristic sound from the first listen. Tea Leaf Green – Onstage, TLG has a build-and-release delivery that can quickly elevate to build-and-unleash, leaving the listener awestruck. Ultimately, the band's sound strikes the perfect balance between wildness and precision. Tea Leaf Green's sound can be loud, melodic, in your face and danceable, often all at the same time. Blowing away their west coast homestead for nearly two years, the band is now starting to tour nationally armed with a 2-CD live album, and will have released a new studio CD by the time you read this. Vinyl - This seven-piece groove machine out of the San Francisco Bay Area makes it its mission to move your body with its instrumental music. With gliding Latin-jazz vamps, skittering grooves echoing James Brown's "Funky Drummer" and their own subtle brand of reggae, Vinyl plays a moody brand of club funk that has made them a countrywide favorite. Though loaded with soloists that can turn out lick after lick, Vinyl plays mostly for textural effect, crafting grooves that shift like views through a kaleidoscope. Their next album will be out soon, and it features many special guests in a live setting. Should be hot! Vorcza – Vorcza is the name given to three gentlemen intent on creating original high-energy grooves designed to grease your boogie apparatus, while planting their collective feet firmly on the ground cleared by a long line of improvisational masters. These members of viperHouse, Jazz Mandolin Project, and Trey Anastasio Band have been burning up stages on the East Coast lately in support of Maximalist. Voted best new release by the Burlington Free Press, Maximalist documents the free-style, Hammond organ driven approach to deep grooves and powerfully beautiful melodies. Experience a fresh discovery with every listening. The Waybacks - Possessed of dazzling instrumental chops and an absolute mastery of acoustic musical styles, The Waybacks have taken North America by storm in just over a year. Whether mesmerizing audiences at intimate venues or creating a sensation at major festivals, the band has brought its onstage alchemy to enthusiastic fans far and wide. Eclectic in both influences and approach, the band embraces multiple genres and puts its unique stamp on the lot. Waybacks music is wild, energetic and unpredictable. With their stellar musicianship and innate sense of adventure, they stand in great company with the few bands at the forefront of New American acoustic music. We'd also like to say welcome back to one of our favorite trios, The Slip! We look forward to turning on scores of music fans to these unique and genuine new members! Thanks for reading and have a great month!
