Where's Eric

2008-08-22

This month's featured fan site is Where's Eric, the Eric Clapton portal. Here's a bit more on the site...

Where's Eric! magazine was founded in 1992 due to the lack of information available to fans of Eric Clapton. Initially, the magazine was a photocopied cut-and paste fanzine distributed to a small group of hard core UK-based Clapton fans. Today, Where's Eric! is a glossy color magazine with subscribers in 36 countries. But, the magazine and its companion website still retain the original values of giving fans accurate information and constructive comment about Eric Clapton's work.

The name came about when a friend of the founder and editor said, "don't call it something pretentious, call it something daft ... like Where's Eric!"

Whereseric.com was launched just about ten years ago. The team of fan-volunteers who staffed the magazine realized a companion website would be a terrific way to keep fans updated between issues. Over the years, whereseric.com has become THE source on the web for news and information on the world's pre-eminent blues-rock musician. The site announces one-off appearances and tours, tv and radio broadcasts, information about new albums and DVDs ... pretty much any news related to Eric Clapton’s career! Even Eric Clapton's band and crew, his official website and his official online fan club rely on whereseric.com as their source for up-to-date accurate Eric Clapton news.

Wheresercic.com also allows fans around the globe to participate in the website by submitting show set lists, concert reviews and photos. These are hosted in the "Tour" and "Photo" sections of the website. Other than news, the tour pages are the site's most popular feature with many thousands of fans visiting daily when EC is on the road.

Whereseric.com offers the following features:
- Current news about Eric Clapton on the homepage
- A news archive
- Concert calendar with ticket on sale information
- Set Lists and Fan Reviews (updated within hours of a concert's conclusion)
- The EC FAQ - an online encyclopedia with 18 categories including awards, band lineups and biographies, guitars and amps, songs, and album trivia.
- Photo Gallery
- Discography
- Information about Where’s Eric! Magazine
- Recommended links to official and fan-run websites
- Periodic online contests

Whereseric.com also provides free email news alerts via our "Eric Clapton News & More Mailing List". Individuals who register receive brief emails from time to time with news and tour recaps, tour announcements, ticket on sale information and new CD and DVD release information.
