Visions of Bonnaroo 2008: Saturday and Sunday

After getting carried away at MSTRKRFT, my body was bent and broken, and I did not get to shoot as many bands as I would have like. But I DID get to shoot Pearl Jam. Oh yes. And I kind of got electrocuted, so a couple of these pictures are my father's. Health hazards aside, best Bonnaroo ever - and it is every year.
Hightide Blues beat 300 other bands to make their Bonnaroo debut on the Sonic Stage. Accustomed to going anyway, the band had to sell their tickets on their facebook profiles as they now had backstage passes.

Jón Þór Birgisson, known as “Jónsi,” busts out a cello bow and opens the Sigur Rós concert with a stunning version of “Svefn-g-englar…”
…and then sings into his guitar, producing one of the coolest effects ever. They are touring the U.S. this fall. Go.
They brought with them the Amiina String Quartet
and five dudes dressed as Icelandic mariachis playing brass. Again, go see Sigur Rós.

After a minor electrocution on an exposed Christmas light during Father’s Day (another Almost Famous moment crossed off the list) I felt shaky and turned the camera over to Dad for the last two bands. Here is Susan Tedeschi who, with Derek Trucks and the Soul Stew Revival, went for an hour over and did an encore which the crowd ate up. Photo by William Hill.
