From The Editor: Dean Budnick

Okay, I'll admit it, for the first time in a while they finally got me. When I was younger and aggressively touring I use to feel a level of anxiety approaching dread whenever I missed a show. I'm sure this feeling is not uncommon to many of you out there, especially those of you who done your share of shows. "What if I hit the next nine, and the one I miss, the very next one is THE show." There have been a fair share of such moments over the years but particularly since the birth of my daughter, it's been a while since I really felt one of those nights tugging at me.

Well last week it happened again. Twice. In three days. On April 8 Marc Brownstein returned to the stage at Wetlands with his Maui Project, and a gifted line-up of players. I knew the vibe was going to be special (as would the music) and by all accounts it was. Ditto two nights later again at Wetlands. moe. had returned to the club for its CD release party. The band's second set was a performance of its rock opera Timmy which it hadn't offered up in more than five years. I'd been hankering to see it.

Sigh. I guess that's what tapes and CD-R's are for.

Anyhow we have a fine issue this month. We have the debut of our new Jams In Progress section with a song from the Disco Biscuits. I am also really digging the Astrojams column- horoscopes we can use. Plus, Jesse Jarnow really went to town this month with 24 CD Reviews. Oh yes, and our Jambands Music Store should be debuting any day now as well. In addition, there are plenty of fine features, columns, regional reports, and the like.

Talk to you next month, with more on the Jammys...

Later days and peace,

Dean

P.S. Nope, no cooking column and no Mikey this month. May. No, really...
