Tour Journal Revisited
Edited by Michael Morrow[Editor's Note: August brings a decidedly different piece to the Tour Journal Revisited page- our first poem! And our first entry from the voice of an "inanimate" object, no less. I think you'll find Karen Ericson's thoughts after an inspiring encore last summer an "enlightening" change of pace. "Glowstick"
by Karen EricsonTonight, I think I'll shimmer green
in the depth of midnight prairie sky,
and hurtle upwards,
unbound melody, arcing path,
unchained song.
Potential energy soaks
through my skin,
from light to shadow, note to echo.Shaking now, peaking jam,
unleashed among the carefree dance
and hurled into a swarm of color,
lost among the trails of light.
From up to down
and back again, a manic waltz
of brilliant sound,
kept afloat by cheers and joy,
a rainbow weeping of our souls.Just like our friends who brought us here,
tonight we've heard our truest call
and leapt into the sky reborn
to jump and flare and blaze and glow.
