As I'm sure most of you know, Jambands.com has been affiliated with Relix for more than 8 years now. It's been quite a satisfying association and during that stretch, for instance, I've seen Mike Greenhaus' role change from that of a Skidmore college student submitting CD Reviews to this site on through his current gig as Editor-in-Chief of Relix and Jambands.com.

Well, I've been sitting on this one for some time now but we're finally ready to announce that things are taking a pretty exciting turn at the site and at the magazine. Here's a look at the news story from The Latest…

Peter Shapiro Rejoins Jambands.com as Publisher, Along With "New" Relix Media Group Team

Back in early 2000 Peter Shapiro joined Jambands.com as the site’s publisher. A few years later, Relix magazine came on board as Shapiro moved on to focus on other endeavors (The Jammys, Green Apple Festival, Brooklyn Bowl, U23D). Shapiro has now returned to his prior role as he is now serving as publisher of Relix as well as Jambands.com and Relix.com.

A number of longstanding Relix employees will remain as part of the new Relix Media Group team. Josh Baron continues at the magazine, where he is joined by Mike Greenhaus (who becomes Vice President of the Relix Media Group and Editor-in-Chief of Relix). Rachel Seiden steps up as Associate Publisher and Senior Vice President. Cole Boyle will be Vice President, Sales & Marketing and Dale Hirschman will serve as Chief Financial Officer. Jambands.com site editor/founder Dean Budnick will continue in his role at the site and will share the title of Relix Executive Editor with Greenhaus, while also becoming Senior Vice President of Digital.

Budnick, who notes that he is now the Relix staffer with longest tenure (the plaque must be in the mail) adds, "All of these developments are great news for our readers and the bands we cover. Our core team has been working towards this for some time now and we’re just so psyched to be able to make the official announcement. We have quite a bit planned, including our long-discussed site redesign. There’s plenty more on the horizon as well. So please join us for the ride…"

Indeed, in many respects things have come full circle with Peter back on board. On the other hand will the full team we have in place, it's all spiraling forward.

We really can use your help, though. While Jambands.com always has been and always will remain a free resource, the new, old team (or is it the old, new team?) really could use your support. If you've let your Relix subscription lapse (or for some reason never quite got around to subscribing) why not take the time to Join Us. What’s more, we’d be psyched if you could ask a friend to the same (better yet, why not gift him or her with a lovely subscription- it is well worth the $19.74, which reflects the year that Relix started publication).

I promise we're going to continue to do amazing things online and in print, but now more than ever, we’d love you to be a part of it…
