As I type this I’m sitting in the Relix office about a hour away from heading over to 2124 Broadway.

There at the historic Beacon Theatre I will enjoy a lovely evening with the Allman Brothers Band.

As the Rolling Stones once sang and Bob Weir later echoed

This could be the last time
Maybe the last time
I don’t know

I expect I’ll be back later this month but one can never be sure.

On the other hand it increasingly appears that this may indeed be the final Allman Brothers Beacon Theatre run.

Butch Trucks gave some folks hope in our conversation a few days ago but it all seems unclear.

What I can say with some certainty is there have been dozens of satisfying nights at the Beacon, both with and without special guests (my first ABB Beacon show was back in 1992 with Tom Doucette).

What I can also say is that if you’ve never been there you should head on out.

Sure, this version of the ABB may close things out at Madison Square Garden later this year but there is truly nothing like peaking at the Beacon.

See you there…

Later days and peace,
Dean
