Well, here it is, my final editorial of the year, the
decade, maybe even the millennium (I'm too weak to enter that
colloquy right now). Typically, I write this piece last, as we scramble to
complete the site- this is my punchline, and frankly by
the time I work on it I can be a bit punch-drunk. Anyhow, twelve
jambands.com months have passed and I could prattle on about how next year
is going to be even better with more new, swell features and fun but...oh,
okay I'll
prattle.... We are in the midst of finalizing some really funky
partnerships with a range of people
who will add new elements to the site. By the time I write next month's
editorial
I pledge that the "crime against nature" will finally end and you will
actually be able to hear music on the site. There's more too, but I'll yap
about it in 31 days.
In the interim, I do want to remind you that the jambands.com
action is perpetual. Our news editor Jeff Waful is doing
yeoman's work, diggin up a handful of nuggets
every day. Jesse Jarnow's Box Scores is another nifty feature along
with the various new road stories that trail onto on the front page from
Jeff, Jesse, Benjy, and others to come...
While you're vacating this month, take the time to explore
the monthly pieces as well. Chris Zahn's second manager's corner is
edifying and instructive. I also particularly enjoyed Chip Schramm's
feature on support groups for those who attend shows substance-free.
What else? Well aside from the obvious big stories and your personal
favorites , let me steer you to
Jon Gutwillig's call and response, which is rather eloquent and
entertaining as well.
Okay, that's it, see you next month. No wait...one final serious
bit from me. New Year's Eve is an insane time as
it is- be careful out there on the road and don't get behind the wheel if
you're impaired (physically not emotionally although maybe the latter
holds
true as well). Encourage your friends to do the same. There you have it,
Budnick on a soapbox (which is also the name of a Warhol painting, I
believe...)
