In any town, good taste and good sense are not so much what you see and do, but more what you don’t see and do. Charles Bukowski
There are a few things you need to know about Hampton, Virginia: Allen Iverson is from here. Edgar Allen Poe lived here. There is no, I repeat, no good Mexican food. The people are either black or white. (If it weren’t for the military, this would be the blandestdemographically speakingarea in the world.) Air Force women are smoking hot. Career military men are intelligent, open-minded, hard-drinking fellows. Young enlisted men are frat boys with extremely low SAT scores. There are many bridges, tunnels, Confederate flags, and Republicans. Hampton is a god-damned dirty, good old boy, ignorant town, but I love the place.
Since ya’ll will be coming to town for The Phish, here are a few spots I suggest you check out. All of them have been thoroughly inspected by a bona fide (first show: 10-20-95) Phish person and Hampton resident. To be blunt: If the Phish community drops their coins at these locally-owned businesses rather than at the insipid national chains that surround the Coliseum, then the Hampton Roads community will welcome us back with even wider arms the next time we visit the Mothership

So you crashed out early after Friday night’s show, and you’re up early. You need two things: caffeine and Wi-Fi. Please don’t go to Starbuck’s. Go to the Phoebus Coffeehouse, where after posting a grammatically-insulting show review on Phantasy Tour, you can enjoy a variety of fresh muffins, pastries, sandwiches, and salads in a warm and inviting atmosphere.
