Big Sam Williams: My Bonnaroo Day

It’s fair to say that Big Sam’s Funky Nation performed more sets at Bonnaroo 2010 than any other artist. The New Orleans based group appeared on The What Stage, the Sonic Stage, the Fiesta Garage, in the Campgrounds at Pod 3 and few other places, we suspect. In between all of this, Big Sam Williams found time to sit in with Galactic and Ozomatli. Here’s a look at just a portion of what went down on Big Sam’s perpetual motion of a Bonnaroo Saturday…

Big Sam’s Bonnaroo Saturday began in the early morning hours when he sat in with Galactic at The Other Tent along with band mate Andrew “Da Phessah” Baham

As Big Sam’s Funky Nation opens the What Stage, Big Sam is so excited he’s literally air bound

Big Sam keeps on playing even as he is driven from the What Stage to the Sonic Stage

After their Sonic Stage set, Big Sam’s Funky Nation keeps it going en route to a CD Signing

At CD signing, Big Sam also signs someone’s head (or at least his bandana)

A brief break in the Artist Compound before sitting in with Ozomatli and Big Sam ran into Conan

I was lucky to see them play a set on the small stage next to the signing area. It was awesome.
