Cyber Setbreak - January 2000
JamBands.com Game!
Zero Degrees of moe.

First off, let's congratulate last month's winner, Bonnie Fierstein, who swiftly and succinctly linked Deep Banana Blackout to the artists in question.

Here is her entry:

1. Miles Davis>John Scofield>DBB (via Jen Durkin)
2. Talking Heads>Bernie Worrell>P-Funk>DBB
3. Allman Brothers Band>Oteil Burbridge>DBB
4. Jimi Hendrix>Buddy Miles> Trey Anastasio>John Medeski>DBB
5. Widespread Panic>Warren Haynes>DBB
6. Sly & The Family Stone>P-Funk (via Sly Stone)>DBB (via Jen Durkin)

This month, we're going to do it all again, this time with moe. We will offer a brand new copy of the band's double live release along with free tickets to the band's CD release party (tba) to the person who links moe. to a list of six bands most quickly and efficiently.

Just to remind you, here are the rules for this game, which is based on the popular principal commonly referred to as "six degrees of separation." The idea is that any person can be linked to any other person in the world through their mutual associations with five other people (some college students made a name for themselves by creating a web site and a game that focussed on Kevin Bacon).

The goal of the game this month is to connect moe. to other musical artists. The means by which you must do this is by linking any member of the band with other musicians. Associations are legitimate when performers have played on-stage with one another or when they have appeared on a studio recording together. The challenge is to see how you can move from moe. to someone else in the least number of moves. The ideal number is zero. For instance the connection between Ominous Seapods and moe. can be done in zero moves because the bands have taken the stage together (for instance at Gathering of the Vibes 98 or at moe.'s 1999 New Year's Eve show). The move from moe. to Uncle Sammy requires an additional move- (0) moe.'s Al Schnier sat in with Jiggle the Handle on 2/3/99 (1) Jiggle's Gary Backstrom performed with Uncle Sammy on a few occasions (e.g. at Berkfest this past summer). Got it?

Okay's here's the contest. Link moe. with the following bands or performers (all can be done in less than 6 moves):

Aquarium Rescue Unit
John Coltrane
Bela Fleck
Metallica
The Meters
Soulive
