How To Play:
Okay, here's the concept. You've been poking around the site for
a while and now it's time to take a breather. Well here you go,
some festive jambands.com hijinks, with our own game show. All right,
admittedly this isn't actually a show (stick around though, we have
funky stuff on the horizon) but it is a game. First time out of
the box we'll play Zero Degrees of Deep Banana Blackout.
I'm sure you know how this works. Frankly, if any of you have
picked up a copy of Jam Bands: The Book and thumbed through to the
back, you can find the rules for this game, which is based on the
popular principal commonly referred to as "six degrees of separation."
The idea is that any person can be linked to any other person in
the world through their mutual associations with five other people
(some college students made a name for themselves by creating a
web site and a game that focussed on Kevin Bacon).
The goal of the game this month is to connect the band Deep Banana
Blackout to other musical artists. The means by which you must do
this is by linking any member of the band with other musicians.
Associations are legitimate when performers have played on-stage
with one another or when they have appeared on a studio recording
together. The challenge is to see how you can move from Deep Banana
Blackout to someone else in the least number of moves. The ideal
number is zero. For instance the connection between Project Logic
and Deep Banana Blackout can be done in zero moves because DJ Logic
has sat in with Deep Banana. The move from Deep Banana Blackout
to Medeski Martin and Wood requires an additional move- (0) DJ logic
sat in with Deep Banana Blackout (1) DJ Logic has recorded and performed
with Medeski Martin and Wood. Got it?
Okay's here's the contest. Link Deep Banana Blackout with the
following bands or performers (all can be done in less than 6 moves):
Allman Brothers Band
Miles Davis
Jimi Hendrix
Sly and the Family Stone
Talking Heads
Widespread Panic
