First and foremost I want to thank everyone who helped us out with the
Jammys. The event was a long-time coming, from the moment more than six
months ago when we first said, "Let's try to put this together" to the
nanosecond prior to the first note from the Jammys Orchestra
when we held our collective breathes and went forward. Huge Budnickian
kudos and plaudits to the performers, presenters, production
staff (Chris Burrows and Skip Richman rage), and all of you who
continue to support the site and the scene.
Okay, but enough about the past. It's unwise to linger too long. Instead
let's yap about what's to come. Over the past few months some of you have
made suggestions regarding new features and functions for the site. In the
days to come many of these will reach fruition (but please continue
to make recommendations, offer assistance, etc.).
The most visible change will be an aesthetic one. We've been talking
about a redesign for quite some time, and finally Sarah and Julie are
going to deliver. You'll see the initial version this month, and I can
promise you that it will continue to evolve. One goal is to make the front
page easier and quicker to load. In addition we want to help you to
see the full range of content we offer and enable you to navigate in an
efficient manner. Again, we're also in the process of incorporating some
new elements, drawn in part from those ideas that many of you have
suggested and in some instances offered to create for us.
Beyond that we'll be making some additional announcements about
partnerships and functionalities. I am very proud of the relationship we
have with Sonicnet which allows us to expose the music we enjoy to other
audiences that may not yet be aware of what's happening out here. By next
month I am hoping to tell you about some additional similar projects we
have in the works. We'll see.
Until then there's plenty more summer tour moments to be had. Oh yes, and
while you'll want to hit the ampitheaters and festivals don't neglect the
clubs, there's plenty of action happening there too. We'll see you
everywhere.
later days and peace,
Dean
