Mimi Fishman Foundation Update and Tribute Charity Auction

by David Shulman

As many of you know Mimi Fishman and I started the Mimi Fishman Foundation approximately 2 years ago..... and unfortunately, as many of you also know, Mimi passed away a few months ago.

I was aware that Mimi touched many out there, but it wasn't until the last few weeks..... when receiving letters full of wonderful stories about Mimi from so many of you....that I truly realized just how many people were positively touched by Mimi.  Reading the letters, which are still arriving, has helped in such a great way with my healing process.  I thank everyone that have taken the time to do so.... it's very much appreciated.

I am also pleased to announce, although very much in the early planning stages, we are working on a tribute show.  At this point it looks like possibly in Syracuse, taking place in mid-late September, 2001.   Far too early to mention who might participate, however as soon as specific information is available we will be sure to pass it on. As in all past b-day party shows, Brandon Berry (Highpeaks Productions) will be very instrumental in putting this event together.

My plan is to continue the Foundation, including the on-line charity auctions..... and continue to contribute to the fine charities that were important to Mimi.  No doubt, this is exactly what she would want.

Once again, I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for all the letters and donations made to the Foundation in honor of Mimi.    The Foundation just issue a grant of $1,500 to The American Glaucoma Society and we will be announcing an additional grant or two in the very near future to charities that were important to Mimi.

I am pleased to announce in the last 2 years (since the on-line auctions began) we have now issued grants totaling over $11,000.00 including over $9,000 to The American Glaucoma Society, $1,000 to the Boulder County Safehouse, as well as $1,000 to YMCA's Camp Lakewood.

I feel it important to mention all work and time to carry off our charity auctions by me or anyone else to the organization is done on a no-fee basis.   In other words there are no paid employees whatsoever of the Foundation.

If you feel so inclined to send letters and/or donations in Mimi's honor, you can do so by sending to:

The Mimi Fishman Foundation Charity Auction
"A Tribute to Mimi"

To benefit the American Glaucoma Society

We would like to pass many thanks to those that donated all the fantastic items for this auction.  Your kindness is so very appreciated and will always be remembered.

You will notice a significant change in this auction, compared to our prior auctions.  We are going to use eBay's auction service for the majority of the items.  We will continue to use what I refer to as the "manual" auction method for those items that involve tickets in any way, shape, or form.. such as the many ticket/pass packages we have auctioned off in the past and hope to continue to do so in the future.   We hope the eBay service features turn out to be a plus to the bidders in the auctions of non-ticket related items.

Please go to http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/themimifishmanfoundation/   to view and bid on the eBay auction items.   Please check back often as new items are scheduled to be added in the near future.

Bidding for the non eBay items listed below will begin March 19 and end April 6 midnight - central time.   Similar rules to our last auction will apply, meaning no bids will be allowed after the auction end.  (see all auction rules and details at the link below).

Once again, the eBay auction items can be found at

Auction updates, current bids,  and bidding rules on the non-eBay items can be found at:  http://hometown.aol.com/tmmff/myhomepage/auction.html

Feel free to email us at tmmffauction@aol.com if you would have any questions on the auction rules.

We have had several inquiries in the past regarding how you may place a donation outside of the auction.  Donations to The Mimi Fishman Foundation are appreciated and should be sent to:

Let me say you will be bidding on what I feel is truly a unique opportunity.  Let's also not forget the purpose of the auction, which is to raise money for The American Glaucoma Society, while also paying tribute to Mimi. So bid often, bid high, and best of luck!!!!   Once again, a huge thanks to the contributors of these items.
