Guest Percussionists Enliven Widespread Panic Shows

Widespread Panic invited a number of drummers to the stage during the first two evenings of its New Year’s Eve run at the Philips Arena in Atlanta. On Friday, former Allgood member Charlie Pruet appeared during the group’s ‘Drums’ segment. Last evening, Todd Nance and Sunny Ortiz were joined by Yonrico Scott (Derek Trucks Band, back in action following heart surgery in October) and Count M’butu who also remained on stage for an instrumental ‘Surprise Valley’ reprise. In addition, on Friday, long-time Panic associate and producer John Keane (most recently, Don’t Tell The Band) added pedal steel to a number of songs including ‘This Part of Town,’ ‘Clinic Cynic,’ ‘C. Brown’ and ‘Ride Me High.’

Widespread Panic concludes its three night stand the Philips this evening.
