Guitarist Audley Freed and drummer Matt Abts took the stage with the Allman Brothers Band last night at the Beacon Theater in New York City. Freed (Black Crowes, Govt Mule) sat in on ‘Southbound’ midway through the second set. Abts (Govt Mule) emerged for the encore, One Way Out replacing Jaimoe. The show also featured a guest appearance by guitarist Andy Aledort (Groove Kings, David Clayton-Thomas), who stepped in for You Dont Love Me’ at the end of the first set.
The ABBs new album, Hittin the Note was released yesterday. It is the groups first record in nine years.
The Allman Brothers are off tonight, although if youre in New York City you may catch a few of the band members at various venues (Oteil & the Peacemakers and X2 with Abts and Johnny Neel are at B.B.
