Kofi Burbridge (Derek Trucks Band) sat in with the Jason Crosby Band last night at Tobacco Road in New York City. Burbridge joined the group on flute for Horace Silvers Nicas Dream and Rainbow Trouts Wanderlust (Crosbys current touring band includes the members of Rainbow Trout). Earlier in the night, Crosby took the stage with Kofis brother, in his role as keyboardist for Oteil & the Peacemakers, at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill.
Meanwhile, Kofi was performing with his own outfit, The Derek Trucks Band, which played an unannounced early gig at Tobacco Road. During that show, Trucks wife, Susan Tedeschi added vocals to Gonna Move and Joyful Noise. The DTB concert was a private fundraising event for The Deafness Research Foundation.
Because of last nights ‘incestuous’ potential, promoters provided performers with a shuttle bus between B.B. Kings and Tobacco Road (X2’s Matt Abts and Johnny Neel, who opened the B.B. King’s show, also headed to Tobacco Road, but arrived just after the last notes of music were played).
The Jason Crosby Band plays tonight at Dave Glicker’s Downtown in Farmingdale, NY. More dates are available at www.jasoncrosby.com.

The Derek Trucks Band will take the stage tonight at midnight at New Yorks Tribeca Rock Club, following the Allman Brothers Band concert at the Beacon Theater. For details, visit www.derektrucks.com.
