Philadelphia-based Lotus has recently signed with Harmonize Records, a subsidiary of Leeways Homegrown Music Network. The band will release a live CD, titled Germination this summer. [It captures] the musical experience fed by the energy
of a particular crowd, location, or night,’ says bassist Jesse Miller. Just as seeds grow healthy and strong when planted in fertile soil, music rooted in improvisation bears unexpected and beautiful fruits when the conditions are right. Lotus is the seventh band to sign with Harmonize, whose roster also includes Garaj Mahal, Perpetual Groove, The Codetalkers with Col. Bruce Hampton, The Motet, Ten Ton Chicken, and Netwerk: Electric.
