Sadly, several Umphreys McGee songs will be laid to rest next month. The band has announced that ten rarities, including Muff II: The Revenge, Packin Junk and Baby Honey Sugar Darlin, will no longer be played following the September 19th Harvest and Harmonies show at Niles Riverfront Amphitheater in Michigan. However, the members of Umphreys have committed to busting out five of the ten songs at the concert if fans can raise enough money to cover production costs, which total $2000 (admission is free). Every $10 donation is good for five votes to help determine which of the songs may be performed one final time on the 19th. If more than $2000 is collected, the excess money will be donated to the Chris Castino Charity Fund. The deadline for voting is September 9.

Given the band’s sense of humor, the possibilities for cover songs or quotes at this gig are endless (‘Taps,’ ‘Amazing Grace,’ ‘Angel Band,’ ‘In My Time of Dying’ to name a few).
Specific details on how to vote for these soon to be dead tunes are posted at www.umphreys.com.
