The Disco Biscuits guitarist Jon Gutwillig and keyboardist Aron Magner took the stage with Modereko last night at The Emerald Lounge in Asheville, NC. Gutwillig and Magner, who had opened for Widespread Panic earlier in the night at the Civic Center, joined Modereko for a twenty-minute version of Pink Floyds Have a Cigar. Modereko consists of drummer John Molo, saxophonist Bobby Read, guitarist Tim Kobza, bassist Dan Conway and keyboardist JT Thomas. They play tonight with The Derek Trucks Band at the Georgia Theatre in Athens. The complete schedule is available at www.modereko.com.

Meanwhile, The Disco Biscuits will play a special show under the moniker The Perfume tonight at Stella Blue in Asheville. Its a different band, says Gutwillig. We do completely different versions of Disco Biscuits songs; sometimes unrecognizably.
Speaking of alternate versions, last nights opening set for Panic included the Biscuits debut of Lynyrd Skynyrds Gimmie Three Steps. The Disco Biscuits recently recorded a ‘drastically different’ studio version of the song, which will appear on an upcoming Skynyrd tribute album that also features several well-known artists. Look for more details in the coming months.
