Gregg Allman sat in with Govt Mule Friday at the Tabernacle in Atlanta. Allman emerged at the beginning of the second set for Before the Bullets Fly, Stormy Monday Soulshine and Dreams, which also featured New Earth Muds Paul Stacey on guitar. Additionally, Chris Robinson and Stacey joined in at the end of the first set for Southern Man and Hard to Handle.
While Govt Mule guitarist Warren Haynes and Allman are current members of the Allman Brothers Band, two former members took the stage with Mule last night at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Johnny Neel added organ to Fallen Down and a jam segment from The Other One. Guitarist Jack Pearson also stepped in for Soulshine, which closed the show. Other guests included mandolinist Marty Stuart (Johnny Cash, Vassar Clements), guitarist Mike Barnes, guitarist Lee Roy Parnell and guitarist Audley Freed (Black Crowes), as well as regular collaborators Robinson and Stacey, who are on tour with the Mule.
The tour hits Liberty Hall in Lawrence, KS tomorrow. For more dates, visit www.mule.net.
