Guitarist Grant Green Jr. has drawn on his friends and colleagues in assembling an evening of music to benefit Toys For Tots. The show which will begin at 9PM this Tuesday night at New York’s Terra Blues is slated to include appearances by Green’s Masters of Groove bandmates Reuben Wilson and Bernard ‘Pretty’ Purdie as well as Ronny Jordan, Booker King and Melvin Sparks. Everyone attending the event is asked to bring an unwrapped toy (admission is $10 with a toy and $15 without). Representatives from the U.S. Marine Corps will collect all the holiday gifts for distribution to children throughout the area.
Green, the son of influential soul-jazz guitarist Grant Green, has employed his own group to perpetuate his father’s legacy. He released his US debut Introducing G.G in 2002.
