Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey has compiled a limited edition live disc drawn from recent shows. Merry Prankster Ken Babbs (Intrepid Traveler) took the stage with the String Cheese incident last night. He was on hand at the McDonald Theater in Eugene, OR for the SCI benefit performance raising funds for a memorial to honor fellow Prankster Ken Kesey. Babbs opened the second set with spoken word that led into a version of ‘Turn on Your Lovelight.’ Later, Scott Law (Hanuman, Melvin Seals’ Melting Pot, Scott Law Band) appeared with the Cheese on acoustic guitar and mandolin for a few songs including ‘Texas Town,’ ‘Lonesome Road Blues’ and ‘Lost Highway.’.....
In addition to Vince Welnick (as already announced) Gent Treadly will tap some additional musicians for its forthcoming December shows. Zen Tricksters guitarist Jeff Mattson will appear with Gent Treadly for its performance at A&M Roadhouse in New York City on December 18 while drummer Ari Hoenig (Jazz Mandolin Project, Joshua Redman) will join the group for its December 26 NYC gig at Flannery’s on 12/26.
