On January 15 and 16 the Marco Benevento-Joe Russo Duo will begin two of its three upcoming residencies, which will extend weekly through February 6. On Thursday the 15th the pair will perform at the Pontiac Grill in Philadelphia followed by a show on the 16th at NYCs Tribeca Rock Club. Benevento and Russo will also perform at these same venues on the three subsequent Fridays and Saturdays. On Tuesday January 20 the Duo will appear at the Paradise in Boston for the first of three consecutive Tuesdays at the club.
Benevento (organ) and Russo (drums), first met in middle school jazz band and later gained notoriety for their efforts with Jazz Farmers and Fat Mama respectively, before meeting again in New York three years ago. The two will be joined at these gigs by a number of players including Wayne Krantz, Jon Ellis, Sam Kinninger.
