Black Crowes co-founder Rich Robinson will open a six city tour this evening at the Conduit in Trenton, NJ. These shows will not feature Hookah Brown, the group that Robinson formed last year, although H.B. drummer Bill Dobrow will perform with the current quartet. In addition, Tony Shanahan will play bass and Jack Petruzzelli will appear on keys and guitar. Tomorrow night at New York’s Knitting Factory, the group will be joined by a string quartet with the show recorded and later offered for sale (audio taping will be permitted, although the band’s web site notes, ‘my suggestion to those attending the NYC show and wanting to tape is to take a night off and enjoy the show’). Following a Boston gig at Harper’s Ferry on Saturday, the band will head west for three California gigs.
