Rex Foundation Black Tie-Dye Ball Will Feature Dark Star Orchestra
The Rex Foundation will celebrate its twentieth year of grants at its Black Tie-Dye Ball on March 6 at Chicago’s Park West. Dark Star Orchestra will perform at the event which will also offer special tickets that include a pre-concert reception, dinner and silent auction. This event is the first benefit hosted by Rex outside of the Bay Area yet not the first to feature DSO, the group which interprets archival Grateful Dead performances. It was at the Apr 13, 2002 Rex Benefit at the Warfield Theater where Bob Weir joined the group at the close of its second set (a curious and wonderous moment at the time). Bill Kreutzmann has since done the same as well.
