Feeling no need to proclaim ‘Langerado lets them eat Cake’ or ‘Langerado serves up a healthy portion of Cake’ we are here to report that the California band has indeed been added to the 2nd annual Langerado Music Festival. The group will perform a 90 minute set on a bill that also includes 4 groups that appeared at the inaugural Langerado: moe., G. Love & Special Sauce, Mofro and Perpetual Groove, as well as 2004 additions Sound Tribe Sector 9, the Spam Allstars, the Wailers, Cracker and Drive-By Truckers. All in all, 16 bands are slated to appear on three stages during the day-long event that will take place at Young Circle Park, a 13 acre site in historic downtown Hollywood, Florida on March 6. Tickets and additional details are available at the festival website.

Donna Performs with ‘Donna’

Last night at Zydeco in Birmingham, AL, Donna Jean Godchaux MacKay performed with the Dark Star Orchestra. On this evening, rather than interpret a particular performance from Grateful Dead history the band presented an original setlist that focussed on material the Dead performed during MacKay’s era with the band. She sang on a number of songs throughout the night including ‘Sunrise,’ ‘They Love Each Other,’ ‘Bertha’ and ‘Good Lovin.’ In addition Lisa Mackey who otherwise supplies the Donna role also joined in for two Jerry Garcia Band staples from MacKay’s time in that group, ‘I’ll Be With Thee’ and ‘Catfish John.’ DSO, which has a show this evening at the War Eagle Theater in Auburn, AL, will perform at the Rex Foundation’s Black Tie Dye Ball at Chicago’s Park West on March 6.
