Last night at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ, Gov’t Mule invited a number of players to the stage who share a Parliament Funkadelic pedigree. Keyboardist Bernie Worrell (currently a Woo Warrior) sat on keys for much of the second set. P-Funk Guitarist Michael Hampton also joined in for a version of the group’s ‘Maggot Brain.’ Drummer Muruga who has recorded with Funkadelic, Weather Report, and on the Merl Saunders/Jerry Garcia Blues For the Rainforest disc pounded alongside Gov’t Mule’s Matt Abts. In addition, Living Colour’s Corey Glover sang lead on both ‘Talkin’ Loud, Saying Nothing’ & ‘Talkin Bout A Revolution’ as well as sharing vocals with Warren Haynes on ‘Take Me To The River.’ The Mule, which finished up its stint opening up for Kid Rock,

continues its winter tour this evening at the Hippodrome in Springfield, MA.
