Tipitina’s will hosts a number of intriguing side projects and collaborations during three gigs that will take place in late April after the music has ended at the Jazz Fest Fairgorunds. On April 29 Ropeadope Records will host a New Music Seminar featuring Charlie Hunter, Stanton Moore, Dirty Dozen Brass Band Horns, Joe Russo, Marco Benevento, Sex Mob, DJ logic, Skerik and others. The next night, Tip’s will host The 264 Keys Summit which will bring together Robert Walter, Ivan Neville and John Gros (with Stanton Moore and Kirk Joseph supplying the rhythm section and Gros’ Papa Grows Funk also performing that night as co-headliner). Another interesting pairing will take place a week earlier on April 23, a twin bill with MVVP (Moore, Johnny Vidacovich, Rich Vogel and George Porter Jr.) along with Zigaboo Modeliste’s Funk Revue. Details can be found at the Tipitina’s web site with advance tickets on sale Friday via SCI Ticketing.
