Karan, Molo, Seals and Vega are the Avalon Allstars Tonight

This evening San Francisco’s Avalon Ballroom will host a performance by the Avalon Allstars. Mark Karan and John Molo, who once performed together in the Other Ones and now gig in Jemimah Puddleduck, will be joined by Melvin Seals (JGB) on keys and Bobby Vega on bass. Karan and Vega will then remain in town to perform with Melvin Seals Rhythm Factory on Wednesday at the Boom Boom Room. As for Jemimah Puddleduck, the group is slated to return on June 18 at Berkeley’s Ashkenaz Music & Dance Community Center

Jeff Austin & Chris Castino Confirm May Shows Culminating in The Big Wu Family Reunion

Jeff Austin (Yonder Mountain String Band) and Chris Castino (The Big Wu) who teamed up to record Songs From The Tin Shed will showcase that material once again in May. The pair, who toured last month in the midwest and mountain region, will head east beginning on May 18 at The Lilac Festival in Rochester, NY. From there the two will also stop in NYC, Pittsburgh and Richmond, with confirmed gigs through May 22. Austin will then join co-host Castino at his band’s 7th Annual Big Wu Family Reunion which will take place in Geneva, MN at Harmony Park over Memorial Day weekend. Other artists set perform at the Reunion include Medeski Martin and Wood, Particle, Umphrey’s McGee and many others.
