Widespread Panic fans and old school Beanland supporters alike are anticipating tomorrow’s Double Decker Arts Festival in Oxford Mississippi. Beanland, the subject of the forthcoming documentary, Rising from the Riverbed will return to the stage at the festival. The group was co-founded by current Widespread Panic guitarist George McConnell and continued to gig steadily through 1993, releasing two CDs along the way (and gaining two young fans in Cody and Luther Dickinson). Panic keyboardist JoJo Hermann also put in a stint with the group during its heyday. Immediately preceding Beanland on stage at the festival will be the Kudzu Kings, McConnell’s group just prior to taking on the Panic gig.
