This past weekend marked the twenty-first Hookahville. As with the past few years of the spring event, ekoostik hookah welcomed artists and attendees to the Frontier Ranch Music Center in Kirkersville, Ohio. In addition, like previous years, the host band invited a number of performers to the stage over the course of the weekend. On Friday, Leftover Salmon’s Drew Emmitt, Vince Herman, Noam Pilkeny and Bill McKay joined hookah for a version of The Band’s ‘Ophelia,’ as well as ‘Caribou’ and Bob Dylan’s ‘Isis.’ A bit later, Bomb Squad saxophonist Mike Raskin appeared for ‘Girl from Mexico’ and ‘Float.’ The next evening Keller Williams stepped in during ‘Through Hiker’ which yielded an extended jam and remained through ‘The Streetbeater (Theme from Sanford & Son).’ Hookahville will return to the site this coming September 3-5 although no artists have been confirmed as yet (well, okay other than ekoostik hookah).
