Those who came early for Stockholms Syndromes Virginia shows Tuesday and Thursday were treated to a taste of Kevn Kinneys Sun-Tangled Angel Revival augmented by guitarist Gibb Droll. Kinneys band has been traveling as a trio with Dave Johnson (Drivin + Cryin) on drums, and Bryan Howard (Slack Daddy) on bass. However to celebrate the recently completed debut self-titled CD of this group, Gibb Droll joined for last nights show at the Norva in Norfolk and Tuesdays show at Starr Hill in Charlottesville. Droll shared the stage with the trio for the entire set each evening. The bands Norfolk show included a new arrangement of the Drivin + Cryin classic Lets Go Dancing as well as a sneak preview of the forthcoming Kevn Kinneys Sun-Tangled Angel Revival, including the title track, Madmen Blues and the North Myrtle Beach Pancake Massacre.
Take a tablespoon of Bob Dylan, Kinney said, add a tablespoon of Creedence Clearwater Revival and a teaspoon of Jimi Hendrix and you will get pretty much what we were shooting for. The CD is slated for a September 27 release and it too will feature Mr. Droll on guitar.

Kinney and The Revival will perform at The Music Farm in Charleston, SC tonight, and at Rafters on St. Simons Island tomorrow night. Kinney will also perform four solo sets opening for the Indigo Girls in Colorado July 28>31.Report by Rob Turner
