In response to a series of internet posts and emails regarding registration forms facilitated by HeadCount, the voter registration group issued the following statement to their e-mail list:

‘Reports are coming in from all over the country of registrations not being processed at the state level. We encourage you to verify your registration by contacting your secretary of state’s office. If you are not registered but you had been registered at another address previously and still have residency there, you may still have time to do an absentee ballot. And EVERYONE has the right to cast a provisional ballot on election day. If you registered through HeadCount and have found your registration did not go through, please e-mail us and let us know what show you registered at (artists and city) and your home state (very important).’

Throughout the year HeadCount has been registering voters at music events across the country. The grassroots organization will hold a pre-election party at New York s Mercury Lounge on November 1, featuring RANA, Big Fuzz, The Dub Trio with Jon Gutwillig and DJ Moshi, among others. Head Count co-chair, and Disco Biscuits bassist, Marc Brownstein will emcee the evening’s festivities. Bernstein and others are currently looking into potential problems which led to registrations not being processed at the state level.

Election Day is this Tuesday, November 2. Please make sure to cast your vote.
