John Popper is currently in Austin working on the next Blues Traveler album. So after he heard that Particles scheduled Austin opener Drums & Tuba had to cancel due to a family emergency, he signed on as an impromptu opening act. Popper was backed by Particles Eric Gould, Darren Pujalet and Charlie Hitchcock for some extended improv along with a version of Gov’t Mule’s Sco-Mule. Popper remained throughout the night also guesting on Superstition and later on Metropolis which segued into a few verses of Travelers Alone. As for Particle, the band’s tour continues in Oxford, MS tonight at the Library.
