On Saturday, Widespread Panic bassist Dave Schools participated in a fundraiser for his high school, the Collegiate School in Richmond, VA. There he performed with his former high school band Midnight Jam, offering up as number of covers included ‘Evil Ways,’ ‘And It Stoned Me,’ ‘Sweet Jane’ and ‘Soulshine.’ Schools later donated a Fender Precision bass for auction to benefit the music program at Collegiate (raising more than $10,000). A few years ago the David Schools Music Scholarship was established by his former classmates to help underprivileged students attend the school and participate in its music program.
