During its performance at Santa Cruz, CA’s Catalyst Club last night, moe. received a visit from Santa Cruz-transplant, Brooklyn-bred Marc Brownstein. The bassist emerged at the start of moe.‘s second set on ‘Recreational Chemistry.’ Over the years, fans have seen plenty of cross-pollination between moe. and the Disco Biscuits (indeed prior to then, the Biscuits helped secure their first gig at Wetlands Preserve by ‘flyering the hell out of a moe. show’). In the late-1990s, the Disco Biscuits opened for moe. on several occasions, including a memorable Willy Wonka themed Halloween performance in 1999. Brownstein also helped flesh out ‘Recreational Chemistry’ during moe.‘s late-night set at the first Bonnaroo Music Festival. Exploring his electronic interests, guitarist Al Schnier brought his al.one project on the road with the Disco Biscuits in 2002, joining the group on stage on several occasions. More recently, Schnier and Brownstein have collaborated in Laverneus Cool and the HeadCount Allstars.
