The Midwest leg of the BIG Summer Classic continued to offer a healthy dose of inter-band collaboration. Yesterday at Sauget, IL’s GMC Stadium, String Cheese Incident’s headlining set was marked with an appearance by Yonder Mountain String Band’s Jeff Austin during ‘Old Dangerfield.’ Later, Michael Franti offered a ‘One Love’ rap during ‘Outside Inside’ During String Cheese Incident’s encore, Umphrey’s McGee’s Brendan Bayliss, Jake Cinninger, Joel Cummins and Kris Myers, along with Spearhead bassist Carl Young, also emerged for a run through ‘Impressions.’ The UM-Quartet remained during ‘Time Goes By’ which closed out the day’s festivities.

Earlier in the evening, String Cheese Incident’s Keith Moseley and Bill Nershi also showed up during Keller Williams set for a cover Steve Miller’s ‘Take the Money and Run.’ Later Austin emerged during ‘Running on Fumes,’
which segued into interlocking set with the Yonder Mountain String Band built around ‘Funky Town.’ BIG Summer Classic will return to GMC Stadium for another, presumably, another round of collaborations today.
