Parliament-Funkadelics Ray Davis passed away on Tuesday from respiratory complications in a New Brunswick, N.J hospital. Davis first performed as bass vocalist with George Clinton in the Parliaments, the doo-wop quintet that preceded the full-on electric band that would come to be known as Funkadelic. Davis remained with many incarnations of the group contributing his voice to such songs as ‘Give Up The Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucka),’ ‘One Nation Under a Groove’ and ‘Flashlight.’ In the mid-90s he appeared with the The Temptations and recently also toured with the Original P, which featured many other members of Parliament-Funkadelic’s extensive roster.
