A Night At The Family Dog

This Fridays tribute to the life of Chet Helms at San Franciscos Great American Music Hall is sold out. However, while no ticket are currently available to ChetFest, a bit later this summer folks will have an opportunity to look back at Helms and his Family Dog Productions in their heyday. September 13 is the official release date of the DVD A Night At The Family Dog. Originally broadcast on PBS in early 1971, A Night At The Family Dog presents performances by The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane and Santana recorded on February 4, 1970. Santana and Airplane deliver two songs and the Dead offer three before it all concludes with a climactic, collective jam featuring members of all the groups.
