Different Strokes by Different Folks features a host of notable artists re-imagining the music of Sly and the Family Stone. The groups original master tapes were offered to these artists who were then encouraged to give them their own spin. For instance Steven Tyler and Robert Randolph work through I Want to Take You Higher, Buddy Guy and John Mayer interpret You Can Make It, and John Legend, Joss Stone and Van Hunt deliver Family Affair. The disc wont be available in most record outlets until mid-September but as part of the current curious trend it is presently for sale in Starbucks.
