In 1979, three years before he would join New Grass Revival and a decade before the Flecktones, twenty-one year old Bela Fleck released his debut recording. On Crossing the Tracks he is joined by a stellar line-up, with support from Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Bob Applebaum, Russ Barenberg and Mark Schatz. The eleven cuts, which include a take on Chick Corea’s ‘Spain,’ originally appeared on vinyl and cassette. However, next Tuesday they will arrive in a new medium, as Rounder is releasing Crossing the Tracks via a newfangled form called the compact disc.
