While last Friday, Particle announced that guitarist Charlie Hitchcock would be leaving the group, last night he affirmed that he is still hankering to play. During the first set of Umphreys McGees appearance at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, AZ, Hitchcock took over on guitar for Brendan Bayliss on the Miles Davis classic ‘So What?’ while Bayliss joined Andy Farag on percussion. Late in the second set Hitchcock returned, assuming stage right guitar duties for Jake Cinninger on ‘Ringo,’ who then sat in on keyboards with Joel Cummins. The evening ended with an encore of ‘Bridgeless’ with Bayliss and Cinninger offering dueling leads atop speakers, monitors, drum kits and just about everything but the theatre roof.
