Over the weekend, Spearhead held court at San Franciscos Fillmore for its fourth annual Harvest Ball. In addition evening performances on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Michael Franti also offered an acoustic family matinee Sunday, which also featured Native American dancers, dream weaving, clowns, face painting and The Big Tadoo Puppet Crew (100% of the proceeds went to aid hurricane relief efforts). Spearheads Radioactive showed off his acoustic side over the weekend, offering some unplugged beat boxing before performing numbers like Runfayalife with Franti

On Saturday, Spearhead was supported by Brett Dennon and the Hot Buttered Rum String Band, the later of who invited Franti and Radioactive onstage for Red Beans and Rice and Bob Marleys Small Axe. In addition to offering his own set, Dennon also added vocals to the all-star version of Red Beans and Rice,. On Sunday afternoon, Franti returned the favor by inviting Hot Buttered Rum out during his children-themed acoustic performance.

Sunday night, New Monsoon and Brett Dennon provided support duties, while the weekends canned food drive continued to stress festivals charitable feel. During New Monsoons set, Franti and Radioactive also joined New Monsoon for an extended jam based around ‘A Crime to be Poor in America’ and Little Feats Spanish Moon. Later, Railroad Earths Tim Carbone joined the Bay Area jamband for Water Vein and ‘Traveling Gypsies. Carbone will perform with New Monsoon when it plays at Santa Cruzs Moes Alley and Mill Valley, CAs Sweetwater Thursday and Friday.
