DJ Logic has spent the last few years primarily performing solo sets, while also working on his third album with John Medeski, Charlie Hunter and The Antibalas Horns, among others. Over the weekend, Logic returned to a group setting for two jam-packed performance at New Yorks Blue Note. On Friday, Logics core band consisted of veteran jazz bassist Christian McBride, Gil Scott Herron/Digable Planets keyboardist Brian Jackson, Charlie Hunter Band drummer Derek Phillips and Karl Denson, who performed earlier in the evening uptown at BB King Blues Club. Kicking off at 1:30 AM, the performance went late into the night, drawing one of the lauded jazz-venues largest late-night crowds. A number of guests also showed up throughout the early-morning hours including Cheme, Jessica Lurie, Adam Dietch, New Orleans trumpeter Maurice Brown and jazz great Donald Harrison. Saturday Logic again performed with a rotating cost of characters which included Brown, Cheme, Dietch, Phillips and producer/ noted horn player Bob Belden.
