Addison Groove Project returned to the road this weekend for a pair of shows in two old-haunts along with some familiar faces. Friday night longtime auxiliary member George Langford, whose collaborations with Addison dates back to its members middle school days, joined the group on percussion during the second set at Boston’s Paradise. A night earlier, noted local jazz-guitarist Stephane Wrembel took the stage with the quintet for ‘38’ at Brooklyn, NY’s Southpaw. After AGP drummer Andrew Keith was stricken with gout, Uncle Sammy’s Tom Arey also took a seat behind the kit for the entire Southpaw performance. Uncle Sammy’s connection with the band runs deep as the groups tag-teamed on their first extended tour in 2000. AGP has been working on its third-studio album portions of which were laid down in Trey Anastasio’s Barn recording space.
