The latest disc from the Charlie Hunter Trio is due to hit on February 6. Copperopolis offers some new tones with John Ellis not only playing saxophone but also moving to Wurlitzer and melodica on occasion. The results are said to be a bit more upbeat, with Hunter given room to take some sweeping rock leads. The Trio which also features drummer Derrek Phillips currently is appearing through Sunday at Yoshis in Oakland.
