On Wednesday night at the McGlohon Theatre in Charlotte, the Derek Trucks Band began its three show run towards 2006. The group expanded to a six piece from the get go with Count M’Butu joining the band on percussion throughout (as he has been doing quite often as of late). Prior to he second set, another drum kit was added and the DTB became a septet, with Trucks brother Duane sitting in for the remainder of the night, including the Hook and Sling encore. The setlist included ‘Everything Is Everything,’ ‘Spirit In The Dark’ ‘All I Do’ and a fitting take on For My Brother. Tonight the group will be at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta for the first of two shows (New Years Eve also features performances from Scrapomatic and Susan Tedeschi).
